Hull Citadel Band Reunion

Hull Citadel band reunion weekend, which brought together current personnel, and former members of the Hull East and Central corps, started with a prayer meeting, followed by a rehearsal led by former bandsman Robert Foster (Leighton Buzzard).

A capacity congregation enjoyed the varied Saturday evening programme which commenced with “Hull Citadel”, a specially commissioned march written by Dean Jones. New compositions such as “Blessing and Honour” (arr. Sharman) and ” Ein Feste Burg” (Mackereth) contrasted with thought-provoking favourites such as “Light of the world”. Cornet soloist James Kerridge’s family have long associations with the corps. His lively “Fiesta Mexicana” was balanced with Joy Webb’s “Share my yoke” and “I’d rather have Jesus” (Himes). Memories were shared and friendships renewed during the fellowship interval. Former corps officer Ian Davies presented the bible reading and words of challenge.

Ian Wileman (Sheffield Citadel) led Sunday morning’s meeting, and challenged the congregation about their personal experience of Jesus. James Kerridge and Robert Foster both contributed solos, and the band played a stirring corporate testimony to their personal faith with “I know Thou art mine” (arr: Banlantine).
